We have several things going on this week!
- Homework will begin on Monday. Your child will bring home their homework folder with a list of homework opportunities inside. I regard homework as a learning opportunity, so I will try to include one thing from each subject each week. This is one way you can be informed of the things we are learning about at school, and one way you can reinforce the importance of learning at home. Homework folders are due back with completed work on Friday. It is very important that all homework folders are returned on Friday so I can prepare them for the following week. A link to the homework document can be found below.

- Students will take their first Word Wall Test this Friday. Please visit the Word Wall page of our class website to see a virtual version of our class word wall. Students will be expected to write 5 sentences using one of the randomly selected word wall words. Each sentence is worth 10 points, and one point will be deducted for every mistake dealing with capitalization, understanding, punctuation, and spelling. In addition, 5 points will be deducted for sentences that are run-on, incomplete, or do not make sense overall.
- Wednesday is an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 12:20. Please send in a note if your child's mode of transportation will be different on this day. Otherwise they will be dismissed the same as non-early release days.
- On Friday, students will take the MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) Test in the area of reading. It is very important that students get a good night's sleep prior to this test. It may also be helpful to talk with your child about the purpose behind this assessment. Ths MAP Test will give valualbe information about the areas of strength and areas of growth for our students. Some questions will seem easy and some will seem challenging. Ths MAP test chooses questions based on how the previous one was answered. Our students are not expected to get them all correct, but they are expected to do their very best!
Highest Regards,
