Your second grade school year is coming to an end. Just think, next year you will be upstairs with the big kids and you'll finally be able to participate in chorus, as well as, many other school activities only for students in grades three and up. This is such an exciting time for you and all of the other second grade students in our school.
For our final blogging project, I thought it would be nice for you to reflect on this school year, and think about all of the ways you've grown as a reader, speller, writer, mathematician, friend, and overall student. Think about the technology we've explored, the books we've read, and the conversations we've had about living, learning, and friendship. You have all worked so hard, and I've watched everyone in our class grow tremendously in so many different ways. I wonder if you realize how much you've grown this year- not only as a student, but also as a person.
After reflecting on this school year, and talking about it with your family, write a message in this blog telling about one area of growth you've had. Make sure you include specific details. Don't just say you've grown as a reader, but explain how by including specific books you are able to read now as a result of your hard work at school and at home. And, make sure to tell about the hard work you've done- how did it feel when you had something challenging to do at school? What did you do to overcome your challenges?
You might also write about something new you did in second grade. What was something you did at school that was new and exciting? Did you discover a new way to solve problems in math class? Were you able to make your writing better from a feedback friend? Have you grown as a speller from our word work activities and Phonics Dance? Or maybe you found a new a book genre or series that you love this school year. How will the things you've done this school year help you next school year?
I know you have grown in so many different ways, but I'd like for you to focus on one way you have grown and write at least one detailed paragraph describing and explaining it. You can submit your writing in this blog, or you can turn it into me at school by Friday, June 5th. Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. I look forward to reading your reflections about second grade!
Your Teacher,
Ms. Weber
