Dear Family,
Dear Family,
It looks as though next week will be a busy one for us! Wednesday is our first early dismissal day. School will dismiss at 12:20. Please make sure your child knows how they will be getting home on this day, and please send in a note if there will be any transportation changes for your child. Open House will be on Thursday, Aug. 29th at 7:00 pm. I hope everyone can make it! Please send me an email about things you'd like me to talk about on this evening, so I can be sure your needs are met. Finally, picture day will be on Friday, Aug. 30, and the decorated quilt squares that were sent home last week are also due on Friday, Aug. 30th. In the classroom, we have been talking about learning with a spirit of endurance. We've read books about people who have endurance, we 've discussed things that can decrease our endurance, and we've discussed things that can increase our endurance. Students are asked to bring in a photograph, magazine picture, or even clip art that depicts people working with a spirit of endurance. These pictures will be used to decorate a bulletin board in our classroom. Students can turn these in whenever they want, but I'd like to have them all in by Monday, Aug. 26th. Yesterday, students brought home instructions for you to create a parent ScootPad account that will connect you to their ScootPad account. This will allow you to access the same progress reports I see when I check homework. I hope everyone is able to do this without any struggles. However, please let me know if you are having any issues, and I will try to help in any way that I can. Your child already has a ScootPad account set up, and their user I.D. and password is stapled on the inside of their blue folder. All students should know how to find ScootPad on our class website, and all students should know how to log in to their account. Please let me know if your child is having troubles with this, and I will show them how to do it again at school. I post new ScootPad homework assignments on Thursdays and they will always be due the following Friday. That way students have a full week to complete their work before I check it. I am keeping things very simple for the next few weeks, and only requiring one 'practice' for reading, and one 'practice' for math. However, some students have already discovered that they can earn lots of coins by doing more than what is asked! Don't ever worry if you have internet issues at home. Students will have an opportunity to complete their ScootPad homework at school. Thank you for your support, and please contact me with any questions, comments, or concerns you may have. Second grade parents are the best! Highest Regards, Gina Weber Dear Family,
August 29th is the date for our Open House. It will be in the evening, but I will let you know the time as soon as I can. As I plan for this, I always like to get input from parents. Please send me a message about things you would like me to share and discuss on this evening. You can respond in this blog, or send an email to [email protected]. Throughout the school year, feel free to send in your extra plastic grocery bags. We use these for collecting breakfast and snack trash in the morning and afternoon. Please check your student's blue communication folder for an important message about our class quilt project. Students are asked to decorate a quilt square and share it with the class. These will be due by Friday, Aug. 30, but can be turned in whenever they are complete. I am also hoping to begin our Scootpad.com homework soon, so please be on the lookout for a letter about this later next week. Finally, students will have technology every day next week. Thank you for your support. Second grade parents are the best! Highest Regards, Gina Weber Dear Family,
Well, the school year is off an running! Our students had several moments of success including learning our morning procedures, team manager jobs, how to line up, how to play safely while on the playground, and so much more. Tomorrow we will continue to discuss Our Fine, Fine Classroom Guidelines (see below), and we will begin learning about the scientific process while studying the life cycle of a monarch butterfly. Be sure to visit the newly added page on our site completely devoted to our newest member. Try to view it often as there will be daily updates on her growth. Thank you again for the supplies and for your support! Second grade parents are the best! Highest Regards, Gina Weber Our Fine, Fine Classroom Guidelines: 1. Work Hard 2. Be Respectful 3. Be Safe 4. Take Responsibility Dear Family,
Thank you so much for making it to our Meet and Greet. We had a wonderful turnout, and it was a pleasure meeting all of you and your families! Thank you so much for all of the school supplies and most especially for the wish list items. I know how crazy shopping for school supplies can be (now more than ever), and I have huge respect for your efforts. These things really make a big difference for our class community every day, and all school year long. Second grade parents are the best! I look forward to getting second grade off to a good start for you and, of course, for your child. Please let your student know that I can't wait to see them on Tuesday! Highest Regards, Gina Weber Dear Families,
In addition to the 2nd grade supply list, each student will also need a black (or grey) -heavy duty- 1 1/2" (or 2") binder. These will be used for all subjects, as well as for a writing incline. I look forward to meeting all of you at our meet and greet, August 8th from 5:00-6:00. Highest Regards, Gina Weber |
