I can't believe we are already approaching the last school week of 2014! Students had a great time on our field trip today. Be sure to ask them about it at home. Students will start a 5 day rotation of P.E. on Wednesday. Students will also have an opportunity to visit the school library on Thursday. However, they can go to the library any time if they have the book title and call number of the books they want to check out. Please visit the Choosing Books page of our class website for help with this.
Students also explored a new site for math practice this week called Front Row. You can access Front Row on your computer, and there is also a FREE iPad app for tablet users. Many students used it at home this week as well. Our class code for Front Row can be found on the Learning Links page of our class website. After the break, you may notice a change in math assignments from week to week. Be sure to look on the homework carefully to see if your student is to work on Ten Marks or Front Row. However, both resources can be used at any time for math practice at home. Remember that if your student ever has trouble accessing the internet at home to let me know so I can help them with this at school.
Next week, we will finish up both of our units in ELA and in Math. Students will take a test in geometry, learn about exaggeration in tall tales, and write a research report on a famous person from the wild west time period. Students did not get to take a Word Wall test this week, so the words will stay the same for next week. Since we have an assembly and our winter party on Friday, we will take a Word Wall Test next Thursday. A link to this week's homework can be found here.
Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns!
Highest Regards,
Gina Weber
