I hope everyone had a fun and relaxing Fall Break. I know I did! We have quite a bit going on this week in second grade. Students will begin a 5 day rotation of technology this week, and our fall party will be this Friday afternoon. Please send me an email if you are available to help out.
We are also starting a new reading incentive program at Crestwood called Book It! Students will have an opportunity to earn a FREE kids Pizza from Pizza Hut by reaching a monthly reading goal. They will also earn badges each time they visit a Pizza Hut with their certificate. I remember being very excited about Book It! as a kid, and I hope your child will feel the same way. For more information on the Book It! program, please follow this link.
Just to keep things simple, students who recieve a 10/12 on their October Reading Log will earn a Book It! certificate this month. Please start noticing the Book It! Reading Log Goal at the top of each future month's reading log to see what your child must do to earn their monthy Book It! reward.
You may have already noticed that the October Reading Log was altered last week. I decided not to use the Reading Counts part of the reading log for now. Instead, all students will begin using Raz-Kids. Please look for a letter with more information about Raz-Kids in this week's Tuesday Folder. A quick link to Raz-Kids can be found on the ScootPad & Other Learning Links page of our class website. This will come in handy starting next week.
Updates have been made to the Dear Student Blog, and the Newsletter pages of our class website. In addition, our weekly word wall test has been moved from Tuesdays to Fridays. Scootpad homework will continue as usual.
As always, please contact me if you have any comments, questions, or concerns. Thank you for your continued support for the education of your child. Second grade parents are the best!
Highest Regards,
Gina Weber
