We will have a busy week in the classroom as students will begin to publish their family stories using an iPad app called Aurasma. Please send in a small object or photograph that represents your child's story if you haven't done so already. The objects and photographs will be used like a QR code to scan and access to your child's story. Students may also create an illustration at home in lieu of bringing in an object or photographs.
This Wednesday students in grades 3-5 will begin the KPREP testing. These assessments last for several days and students must work very hard on them. Our class has been assigned a 5th grade class to support with daily notes of encouragement. We have also been invited to offer mint flavored gum (yes, gum!) and peppermints as research shows that these items bring many benefits to students in a testing scenerio. If you would like to make a donation of peppermints or gum to help us support our adopted class, it would be greatly appreciated. There are 28 students in the class we are supporting. These items will be checked in the office, so please make sure they do not contain peanuts or treenuts and that they were not manufactured in a facility that also has peanuts or treenuts.
Don't forget that our field trip is on Friday. Students will need a sack lunch, and they will need to wear their tie dyed shirts. Also, don't forget to apply sunscreen to your child before leaving the house, and be sure to pack a drink for them as well. We will be outside all day, and are unable to make purchases while at the zoo. If you are a chaperone, please be on the look out for an important message from me regarding the details of this field trip.

I hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend!
