I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving Break and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. On Monday and Tuesday, students will go to technology and on Wednesday they will begin a 5 day rotation of art. Students will recieve a personal writing journal on Monday that they will begin writing in every day. You might want to have conversations at home about things that they might write about at school. Sometimes, students don't realize how interesting their daily lives can be! In writing, students will begin writing personal narratives. In reading, students will begin a study of tall tales and use text based evidence to understand both exaggeration and character traits. We will finish up our study of matter in science, and in math we will begin learning about the attributes of plane and solid shapes. Students recieved their homework for this week last Tuesday, but it can also be found here.
Please be a caring cougar and donate food, personal care items, books, etc. if you haven't done so already! The last day for donations is on December 17, 2014.
Don't forget that our book fair 'Lunch and Shop' day is on Thursday, December 4, 2014. Our lunch time on this day is from 11:25-11:50, and our shop time is from 11:50-12:20. The book fair will also be open during breakfast with Santa this Saturday. Due to the book fair, we will not be able to have a whole class library check out time this week. I can send students down individually or in small groups as long as they can show me the book title and call number (from Destiny) of the book(s) they want to check out.
Finally, there are still some students who have not turned in their field trip permission slips for our field trip on Friday, December 12. We will be going to the Crestwood Arts Center to watch a performance of Miracle on 34th street. Please turn in your permission slip as soon as possible if you haven't done so already.
Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. Second grade parents are the best!
Highest Regards,
Gina Weber
