Students completed their first session of MAP testing in the area of reading on Friday. This was a very long test and I am thrilled to say that everyone did their very best. This week, our students will take the math test in MAP on Wednesday. We also released Num Num Num! this week and sent her off on her journey to Mexico. We were so sad to see our little friend go, but we know she is better off migrating to a warmer climate! Please visit the Monarch Butterfly! page to see pictures and videos of our favorite butterfly!
Next week, students will learn about the different ways animals are classified, and we will begin new units in ELA and in Math. Please visit the Newsletter page for more information about these units and tips on how you can support your child at home. Students will go to P.E. on Monday, and start a 5 day rotation of technology on Tuesday. This week's homework can be found here, and it will also be sent home in the Homework Folder on Monday. Remember that all homework should be turned in via the Homework Folder on Friday. Students will take a Word Wall test on Friday as well.
Our Open House will be on Thursday, September 18, 2014 from 5:00-6:00. Ms. McDaniel will also be giving a Title I presentation in the library from 6:00-6:30. The second grade team has created a Student Handbook for the 2014-2015 school year. We will base our Open House conversations on this handbook. Please read the handbook, and submit any questions, comments, or concerns by Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014. This will help me to know what your needs are for this night. The Second Grade Handbook can be downloaded here.
Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. Second grade families are the best!
Highest Regards,
Gina Weber
