On February 2, 2015, the American Library Association announced its highly regarded literary prizes including the Newbery and Caldecott medals. This year, The Crossover, by Kwame Alexander was the first place winner of the prestigious Newberry Award.
Have you ever read an award winning book? I usually find that Newbery and other literary award winners make great book choices. So, to celebrate the work of these great authors, I am going to ask you to choose any award winning book to read and write about on this blog. (Book & Media Awards: including the Newbery, Caldecott, Sibert, Wilder, Carnegie, Batchelder, Belpré, Geisel, and Odyssey awards and the May Hill Arbuthnot Honor Lecture.)
You can form your comment as a brief retelling with your opinion about why you think the book deserved an award. You never know who you might inspire to read just by participating in this blog! I can't wait to read about the award winning books you write about!
Your Teacher,
Ms. Weber
